Everything you need to know about portrait sessions
Regardless of the season that you're in, and whether your babies are big, small or furry, this time in your life deserves to be captured by something other than your iPhone.
I love creating photos to remind families that in spite of the fact that the car of their floor is covered in cereal, their laundry room looks like an episode of hoarders and mom and dad are in a permanent state of exhaustion, their love and their story are beautiful.
So let's plan a day, pick a location that is meaningful to you and create a slew of images that will fill up the frames your walls for years to come.
Securing Your Session
A signed contract and the full session amount is required to secure date and time for ALL sessions. I will reserve the date & time agreed upon and will not make other reservations for that date & time, for this reason, payment is non-refundable.
Please know, I totally understand that life happens and sometimes schedules change. If you need to reschedule your session, please let me know ASAP and I'll do everything I can to figure out a new date for us to hang out!
Once a date & time is established, clients will receive their personal agreement, including invoice for payment.
Contract and invoices are due within 5 days of receipt. If contract and/or payment is not received after 5 days, a reminder will be sent out. Payment and contract will be due within 2 days of receiving reminder. If contract/payment is not received within the 2 additional days, client will forfeit the scheduled date. Extenuating circumstances will be taken on a case by case basis.
About Your Session
Unless specified by client, I will select the location where the photo shoot will take place.
I am a natural light photographer, therefore, most of my locations will be outdoors, as long as weather permits. Location for event photography is typically established by the client.
Timeliness & Attendance
Client should arrive to photo shoot, dressed (including hair and makeup) and ready to shoot.
Timeliness is imperative for the smooth execution of each session. Additional time will not be added to a session, in the event of tardiness. A grace period of up to 15 minutes will be given for each session. After 15 minutes, clients will incur a charge of $25.00. After 30 minutes, session will be cancelled and client will forfeit payment for the session.
Expected Session Times
Minnesota Mini - 30-40 minutes
Up North Sessions - 90 minutes
Baby Milk Bath Sessions - 45 minutes
Graduation - 2 hours (1 hour at each location)
Newborn - 2-4 hours (depending on baby)
Attendance is limited to only those individuals being photographed. Having additional people present can be distracting to both photographer and client.
Cancellations + Rescheduling
In the event a reschedule is necessary due to inclement weather, illness, personal or family emergency, the new session date will be scheduled as soon as possible.
In the event that I am unable to perform required work on the day of the session/event, due to illness, personal or family emergency, a full refund of session payment will be provided to client within 5 days of scheduled event.
After Your Session
Prints & Products
Clients will receive a digital gallery of edited images via Pixieset usually between 2-4 weeks after the session date. If you need suggestions on where to print your photos, please contact me!

No one wants to look like a wet dog in their photos so if it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, we'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule. Often, when we're scheduling our initial portrait session date, if it works for my calendar, I'll actually set up both a main date and a rain date just to make sure we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date.
