Everything you need to know about portrait sessions

Regardless of the season that you're in, and whether your babies are big, small or furry, this time in your life deserves to be captured by something other than your iPhone.

I love creating photos to remind families that in spite of the fact that the car of their floor is covered in cereal, the laundry room looks like an episode of hoarders and mom and dad are in a permanent state of exhaustion, their love and their story are beautiful.

So let's plan a day, pick a location that is meaningful to you and create a slew of images that will fill up the frames your walls for years to come.

Before Booking

Securing Your Session

A signed contract and the full session amount is required to secure date and time for ALL sessions. I will reserve the date & time agreed upon and will not make other reservations for that date & time, for this reason, payment is non-refundable.

Please know, I totally understand that life happens and sometimes schedules change. If you need to reschedule your session, please let me know ASAP and I'll do everything I can to figure out a new date for us to hang out!

After Booking

Next Steps

Once a date & time is established, clients will receive their personal agreement, including invoice for payment.

Contract and invoices are due within 5 days of receipt. If contract and/or payment is not received after 5 days, a reminder will be sent out. Payment and contract will be due within 2 days of receiving reminder. If contract/payment is not received within the 2 additional days, client will forfeit the scheduled date. Extenuating circumstances will be taken on a case by case basis.

About Your Session

Unless specified by client, I will select the location where the photo shoot will take place. I am a natural light photographer, therefore, most of my locations will be outdoors, as long as weather permits. Location for event photography is typically established by the client.

Timeliness & Attendance

Client should arrive to photo shoot, dressed (including hair and makeup) and ready to shoot. Timeliness is imperative for the smooth execution of each session. Additional time will not be added to a session, in the event of tardiness. A grace period of up to 15 minutes will be given for each session. After 15 minutes, clients will incur a charge of $25.00.  After 30 minutes, session will be cancelled and client will forfeit payment for the session.

Expected Session Times

Minnesota Mini - 30 minutes

Up North Sessions - 60 minutes

Graduation - 2 hours (1 hour at each location)

Newborn - Up to 2 hours of photography

Fresh 48 - 60 minutes

Attendance is limited to only those individuals being photographed. Having additional people present can be distracting to both photographer and client.

Cancellations + Rescheduling

In the event a reschedule is necessary due to inclement weather, illness, personal or family emergency, the new session date will be scheduled as soon as possible.

In the event that I am unable to perform required work on the day of the session/event, due to illness, personal or family emergency, a full refund of session payment will be provided to client within 10 days of scheduled event if a new session date cannot be made.

After Your Session

Prints & Products

Clients will receive a digital gallery of carefully hand edited images via Pic-Time usually between 3-6 weeks after your session date.

No one wants to look like a wet dog in their photos so if it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, we'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule. Often, when we're scheduling our initial portrait session date, if it works for my calendar, I'll actually set up both a main date and a rain date just to make sure we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date.

A few more FAQ's

Do you have a studio space?
I personally do not but, I have other fellow photogs who
do and I can always reach out to them to check their
studio rental availability. Please keep in mind there will
be an added rental fee if you choose to do in-studio.

How many photos will I get back?
This can vary based on your individual session, but typically
sessions include 50-60 edited images. Mini sessions typically
include 25-30 edited images.

How long does it take to get my photos back?
Typically you will get your photos back in 3-5 weeks.
Please keep in mind that I do also work full time but will do my very best
to get your photos back to you as quickly as I can!
How do I book a session?
I prefer all bookings and inquiries to come directly through my website. Direct Messages on Facebook or Instagram can get lost or missed very easily. Once we decide on a date I will email you your customized session contract which will need to be signed within 5 days of receipt. Payment is due upon booking. If you would like to pay using other methods such as Apple Pay, Zelle or Venmo please let me know when inquiring
Do you edit every photo?

I use Lightroom for all my editing. I hand edit each photo and apply my custom presets to give your photos that earthy, warm look. I will change the exposure

or rotate & crop your images but, I do not heavily

edit every single photo. Example: editing out little stray hairs or making

someone 10lbs lighter, not going to happen (sorry!)

Where do I print my photos?
If highly recommend these online print labs:
Nations Photo Lab
Artifact Uprising

Keep in mind.. you get what you pay for!

I can not be held responsible for any mistakes/corrections made to prints or products made by any photo lab

Do I get the copyright/rights to all my photos?
Yes! You will receive a copyright release via email that you can print
or show when printing your photos
Can I get any/all of my unedited photos?
If you want the short answer, it's no.
Until your photos are edited, your image is not finished. Period.
My editing style and creativity is what makes my photography
mine and until the photo is finished I am not proud to put my name
on it. But rest assured, I'm definitely not withholding that one
killer photo. Believe me when I say, if you saw enough
before & after photos you wouldn't even want the unedited ones!
